A little about
myself...

Hey there, my name is Egan Homeric. I am a UX design & computer science student studying at the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University, hoping to further my career in the tech world.

I was born and raised in Chicago—a son to first-generation Asian American immigrants. My parents were both artists themselves and I believe that made a great impact on me and why I share a love for art and design.

As a teen, I developed a love for the sci-fi genre and imagined a world where humans and technology could work together harmoniously; where tech is not just a tool or appliance, but a natural addition to the human experience. I found an interest in technology and how people interacted with it. It intrigued me how the look and feel of a product could create such varying impacts on the experience of the user. That is why I decided to pursue a career in the field. I want to help close the gap between "man and machine". To create improved, more intuitive and inclusive technologies for the future.

I have completed various projects so far, ranging from concept mobile apps to functional websites. As an ideation project, I designed a concept app that uses the front camera to display information about Chicago landmarks by pointing at them. For another project, I redesigned Brightspace's coursework mobile app through data gathered from user interviews conducted on DePaul students and staff.

I also worked as an intern for website Visually Delicious where I was tasked to translate wireframes and mockups into front-end code, assist in the development of UI/navigation, and debug issues with the site as matters arose.

Outside of UX, I have a passion for film/animation, creating digital art, and machine learning.
